About the role
Do you have a CCT in Intensive Care Medicine or are you coming to the end of your training? Do you have a passion for delivering high quality care and working in a dynamic multi-professional team? Do you want to help to shape the future of Intensive Care services across the South West of England? Bristol NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit hard-working, self-motivated and inspiring doctors to join our team of 29 Intensive Care consultants at the City & Weston Hospital Operating Unit. Our newly created Trust has an annual turnover of £2.6 billion and is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. The City & Weston ICU bed base compromises 60 beds in 6 discrete clinical areas across the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital sites. We admit more than 3000 patients a year. Our severity of illness and outcomes are consistently well above the national average based on serial ICNARC data.
Recent developments within our ICU include the medical merger of the General, Cardiac and Weston adult critical care services. The unit was commissioned as an ECMO / Severe Acute Respiratory Failure (SARF) centre in 2022. We have a multidisciplinary Critical Care Outreach service on both the Bristol and Weston General Hospital sites.
You need to be in possession of a CCT (or equivalent) in Intensive Care Medicine (or within six months of your CCT date on the day of interview) and have GMC registration with a licence to practice. This is a substantive post with full-time ICM PAs available. Both full-time and less than full-time working can be accommodated within the Consultant rota structure. For suitably qualified individuals, additional DCC PAs may also be available from the regional Retrieve transfer service, as well as other departments such as Anaesthesia and Acute Medicine.
