About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Somerset & North Devon Vascular Network as a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon. The role attracts 10 PA's per week and includes participation in the 1:7 consultant on-call rota, clinical governance, education, quality improvement, research and service development. You will join a highly performing regional network providing comprehensive elective and emergency vascular services to a population of approximately 750,000. This post supports the continued growth of vascular and endovascular activity across the Network and offers the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of modern vascular services. You should be able to provide the full spectrum of vascular surgical care and demonstrate experience in contemporary endovascular practice, including EVAR, complex iliac and femoropopliteal intervention, and hybrid procedures. Additional expertise in complex aortic intervention, limb salvage techniques and advanced endovascular technologies would be advantageous. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, specialist nurses, vascular scientists and allied health professionals, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across hub and spoke sites.
You will provide elective and emergency vascular surgical care across the Somerset & North Devon Vascular Network and take independent responsibility for the assessment, investigation, treatment and ongoing management of patients with vascular disease. Key responsibilities include: Delivering high-quality arterial, venous and diabetic foot services. Undertaking vascular and endovascular procedures, including EVAR, peripheral arterial interventions and hybrid procedures, according to experience and service need. Contributing to the development of advanced endovascular and limb salvage services across the Network. Participating in the consultant vascular on-call rota and providing cross-cover for colleagues. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure integrated, patient-centred care. Participating in vascular and aortic MDTs and supporting evidence-based decision making. Contributing to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and National Vascular Registry data submission. Supporting education, training and research activities, including NIHR and commercial studies where appropriate. Playing an active role in service development, innovation and the efficient use of resources.
