Locum Practice Nurse (Maternity Cover) Part-Time

We are seeking a part-time Locum Practice Nurse to join our team on a maternity cover basis, commencing June 2026. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience.

Woodgrange Medical Practice is a well-organised, efficient, and forward-thinking GP practice with a growing list size of approximately 16,000 patients. We are based in a spacious, converted bank building that has been thoughtfully extended to provide a modern, comfortable clinical environment. The practice benefits from excellent transport links and is conveniently located near the Olympic Park and Westfield Shopping Centre.

We are a supportive training practice with a strong ethos of education and professional development. Our multidisciplinary team includes GP Registrars (35 at any time), medical students, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, PAs and Independent Prescribing Pharmacists.

We foster a positive, inclusive working environment where every team member is valued and encouraged to develop professionally.

Monthly whole-practice lunches Weekly educational sessions (internal and external speakers) Regular clinical meetings to discuss cases, updates, and best practice

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to provide high-quality patient care during this maternity cover period.

Qualifications
1st level registration with more than 2 years relevant post basic experience and relevant post basic qualification.
PN Specialist Nurse qualification
BSc or working towards it
Womens health including cytology (ENB 901/8103)
Independent/Supplementary prescriber (or will to work towards it)
ENB 998/Mentorship or equivalent teaching experience/qualification
Undertaken Practice Nurse training
Able to show further professional development
Practical skills:
Is competent to provide effective treatment and care required within general practice at specialist level. These will include:
Venepuncture
Immunisations & vaccinations
Wound management
Chronic disease management e.g.
oAsthma
oDiabetes
oCOPD
oOthers
Knowledge of current issues relating to Primary Care Nursing
Understanding of clinical governance
Family Planning
Cervical Cytology
Experience in clinical audit
Ability to work autonomously
Experience in operating a recall system in general practice.
Personally organised, thorough and methodical
Communication skills
Excellent verbal and written skills
Good record keeping skills
Experience of GP software eg Emis
Accustomed to using a computer in clinical work and audit
Management and Leadership skills
Commitment to monitoring clinical skills
