About the role
The post-holder will be responsible to the Consultant team with a senior consultant mentor aligned to the applicants chosen sub-speciality interest.Please note that although the primary base for this role will beChorley DistrictHospital the post holder will be expected to workacross bothChorley and Prestonsites,as per the serviceand rota requirements. This is afixed term post with the potential to become permanentas we are keen to develop and support our doctors to progress within the trust.
Training opportunities in thefollowing:- 1. The Senior Clinical Fellow can expect extensive training in every aspect of respiratory medicine, including lung cancer, pleural diseases, tuberculosis, asthma, COPD, sleep,ventilationand ILD. 2. There will be plenty of opportunity to learn various skills related tointerventional pulmonology,Non-invasiveventilation and airways management. 3. Performance and interpretation of lung function tests and sleep studies. 4. Opportunity to learn ultrasound evaluation of pleural diseases and ultrasound guided pleural biopsy/ chest drain insertion, under the guidance of a Specialist Chest Radiologist. 5. Special experience in their chosen sub-speciality. 6. Involvement in MDT working and meetings. Lancashire Teaching Hospitalsrespiratory department deliversa significantcomponentof year 3 and5 undergraduate education for Manchester Medical School which the SCF willhave involvementin. There is time for research to support the delivery of abstracts,presentationand publications with linkages to our local universities. Audit The post-holder will be supportedto perform an audit project in Respiratory Medicine whilst in post. Educational Supervision The Senior Clinical Fellow will be supervised by the lead consultant for their chosen specialty.Individual appraisals and regular CPD meetings willcarriedout to support the SCF.
