Clinical Fellow (ST3+) in Stroke Medicine

Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton is a successful and progressive District General Hospital, the largest in Somerset, with an excellent reputation for providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and specialist services. We are looking for a clinical fellow doctor (registrar level) in stroke medicine at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. Part time applications will also be considered. The post is intended to provide support to the acute stroke service including hyperacute and acute stroke management and attending rapid access stroke clinics.

*Support to the hyperacute stroke unit (HASU) and acute stroke unit: attending consultant ward rounds and conducting own ward rounds *Providing leadership to resident doctors on the stroke unit *Attending stroke thrombolysis calls and referrals: gain experience and training in the hyperacute management of stroke, including interpretation of CT brain, CT angiogram and CT perfusion imaging as well as MRI imaging. *Attending rapid access stroke clinics *There may be some commitment to the GIM on call rota -- this can be negotiated according to training needs of the successful postholder and the other registrars. *Where possible, the post holder may have the opportunity to attend specialist clinics such as spasticity management clinics and stroke follow-up clinics.
