About the role

UHNM are looking to appoint three Consultant Haematologists who are experienced in the specialisms of Myeloid, Myeloma or Lymphoma. The successful candidates will be part of a team of haematologists with expertise in haemato-oncology (Lymphoma/Myeloma/Myeloid disorders). As part of this role, you will be required to attend the relevant MDTs, provide full clinical care of patients with blood disorders, predominantly haematological malignancy, specialist advice on all aspects of haematology to consultant colleagues, both within the Trust and Primary Care (advice and guidance), and provide clinical support for the laboratories, particularly commitment for blood film reporting. There will be a requirement to work at the County Hospital site one day per week (which includes one clinic). The appointees will have the opportunity and will be expected to take on leadership roles within 2 years of the post in the transplant programme and other areas as appropriate.

The appointees will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the Haemato-Oncology service and will share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution of management. Subject to the provisions of the Trust Terms and Conditions of Service, the appointee will be expected to observe the Unit's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust.

Essential

Full GMC Registration
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
European Community Rights
MRCP UK or Equivalent FRCPath (or equivalent) MD or PhD
Recent wide experience in clinical and laboratory haematology.
Existing special interest in Myeloma or willingness to develop this.
Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients
Able to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives.
Able to work effectively within a team.
Experience of clinical audit.
Able to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision making
Experience in teaching particularly of undergraduates. Recognised teaching skills course/ medical education qualification
Experience in Clinical or Academic Research
Recent publications in peer reviewed journals
Able to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
Able to plan strategically
Good physical health and mental health
