About the role
We are pleased to offer this opportunity to join the General Medicine team at the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM). Applications are invited for the posts of Consultants in General Medicine, providing expert patient care at UHNM, serving a catchment population across Staffordshire, Leek Moorlands and North Shropshire. A full range of secondary and tertiary specialties are delivered at UHNM and we are also able to specialty sessions of your choice. We currently run two acute general medical wards at Royal Stoke (Wards 120 & 79) and one acute general medical ward at County (Ward 14), with patients admitted under the consultant team, supported by junior and middle grade staff. There will be a requirement to work a 1:3 weekend rota as well as 1:48 overnight on-call on the GIM rota.
Each ward has a daily board round followed by a morning consultant ward round and the consultant is currently allocated further time on wards for the afternoons to meet relatives, MDTs or review newly admitted patients in the afternoon as required.
You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services and will share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
