About the role

Applications are invited for the post of a full-time Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist Surgeon to join our Gynaecological Oncological team. To provide a robust and resilient service for women with gynaecological cancers, for patients presenting with ovarian, cervical, endometrial, vaginal and vulva tumours. If you are a skilled, compassionate surgeon specialising in gynaecological oncology procedures, we invite you to join our dynamic team here at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. We are looking for a skilled, experienced surgeon with a passion for radical ovarian cancer surgery.

All clinical services provided by the Trust are managed on a cross-site basis. Clinics and surgery are predominantly undertaken at Maidstone Hospital.

This is a tertiary centre post that provides comprehensive management of Gynaecological cancers. The successful candidate must have completed sub-speciality training in gynaecological oncology to be appointed.

The 4 substantive Consultants offer a full repertoire of Gynae oncological procedures, including:

oRobotic surgery

o Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

Person specification

Essential

Full GMC registration
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview. Portfolio candidates must have their specialist registration prior to application.
BSCCP colposcopy accreditation
An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature
Able to take responsibility and cope with stressful situations
Able to get on with other members of the multi disciplinary team
Credibility and integrity
A sympathetic approach to patients and relatives

Desirable

Distinctions, scholarships, prizes
Other degrees, e.g. BSc, MSc, MS, PhD, MD
Gynae oncological Fellowship
Experience in Radical ovarian cancer surgery
Evidence of personal research projects and their presentation
Publications in peer-reviewed journals
Critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisition
To have undertaken a postgraduate communication skills course
