About the role

This new post presents an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Term Senior Clinical Fellow for 12 months from 2nd September 2026 until 7th September 2027 to join the established West Suffolk Foundation Trust, within Acute General Medicine. This post is being advertised as a fixed-term position due to current training gaps within the AMU, Respiratory, and Stroke departments. This role offers broad based experience within in General Medicine, including responsibility for inpatient care, acute medical admissions, participation in the on call rota, and supervision of junior Doctors , working closely within Consultant led teams. Essential

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
MRCP Part 1 (UK)
Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances
Evidence that present achievement and performance is commensurate with totality of period of training
Hold full registration and licence to practise with the GMC
Evidence of completion of CT/ST1 or equivalent competences in medicine at time of application, and CT/ST2 competences in medicine by time of appointment, supported by evidence from work-based assessments of clinical performance and Multisource Feedback (DOPS, Mini-CEX, CBD, ACAT) or equivalent.
Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice including: o good clinical care o maintaining good medical practice o good relationships and communication with patients o good working relationships with colleagues o good teaching and training o professional behaviour and probity o delivery of good acute clinical care
At least 24 months' experience in medicine or an IMT, ACCS or equivalent programme (not including Foundation modules) by the time of commencement of ST3 training
All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues which could be demonstrated by one of the following: that applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or have the following: - PLAB2 If applicants believe that they have adequate communication skills, but do not fit into one of the examples they need to provide evidence.
Valid ALS (Resus Council UK)
Competence in the immediate management of medical emergencies
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
Proficiency in a range of medical procedures
Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate

Able to maximise safety and minimise risk
Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues
