Gynaecology Consultant/Surgeon - Oncology

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Oncology Gynaecology Consultant to join Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working across Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District Hospital. This is a full-time Insourcing opportunity for an initial 6-month period, supporting the delivery of high-quality specialist gynaecological oncology services. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of established Gynaecological Oncologists, contributing to complex cancer pathways including outpatient clinics, theatre work, multidisciplinary discussions, and follow-up care. Due to the complexity of the caseload, clinics and theatre lists will typically involve small patient numbers (approx. 2 per session), allowing for the highest standard of care. This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant with expertise in complex gynae oncology, including robotic and open surgical techniques, to make a significant impact within a supportive and forward-thinking Trust.

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide specialist clinical care in Gynaecological Oncology, managing complex cases across inpatient and outpatient settings Undertake operating lists, including robotic and open surgical procedures Deliver outpatient clinics, with approximately 2 patients per session due to complexity Participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, contributing to treatment planning and decision-making Review and interpret histology results, ensuring accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment pathways Provide follow-up care for oncology patients Work collaboratively with two existing Gynaecological Oncology Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including clinic letters and patient records Comply with Trust governance, audit, and clinical quality standards
