EPUT is looking to appoint enthusiastic and passionate Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical Psychiatric support to Older Adult Community Functional Intensive Response and Support Team (FIRST) based at Sankey House, Basildon. You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983.
The post holder will be expected to work independently and provide clinical leadership to the team, through good multi-professional working. The post holder will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of those patients referred to the team and will be expected to work closely with the consultant and team manager to ensure the provision of an effective service to the patients in community. Functional Intensive Response and Support Team (FIRST) provides acute input to patients in community to support any crisis and to avoid hospital admissions. This service is designed to manage Referrals for patients over 70 years old with complex functional mental health problems or 65 - 70 with Rockwood Frailty score greater than 5. The aim is to manage the patients for a period of 6 weeks and they are either discharged back to the GP or if long term support is needed they are referred to the local mental health teams. FIRST team provides services to Basildon, Brentwood, Billericay, Wickford, Grays, Thurrock and the Brentwood Community Hospital on behalf of Basildon Liaison team duty for location logistics. The doctor is also expected to provide input into the local community team to manage patients with dementia or complete memory assessments.
