Obstetrics: Two high‑volume antenatal units provide midwife‑ and obstetric‑led care, including general and specialist clinics such as maternal medicine, endocrinology, perinatal mental health, preterm birth, and multiple pregnancy. The service also delivers tertiary fetal medicine and combined obstetric cardiology and haematology clinics, receiving referrals from across South Wales. Around 5,000 births are managed annually across a consultant‑led labour ward and alongside midwifery‑led unit, supported by a Level 3 neonatal unit and tertiary paediatric surgery. The department has a strong multidisciplinary culture, monthly PROMPT training, and active governance and quality improvement programmes.
