Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics

Barnsley Hospital are looking to appoint a substantive Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia.

Duties of the post consists of providing Anaesthetic services to a wide variety of surgical lists either in conjunction with a Consultant Anaesthetist or solo, depending on experience, with support and oversight from a dedicated Consultant Anaesthetist. Non theatre based duties will involve working flexibly to provide cover either for Obstetric Anaesthesia / Labour Ward and/or the Intensive Care depending on service requirements. Out of hours/ on call commitment is to either Obstetric Anaesthesia / Labour Ward or the Intensive Care Unit on a EWTD compliant 1:8 basis. Full time appointments will be for 10 PAs with the option to increase to 11.5 PAs by mutual agreement. 1SPA is included in the 10 PA contract

Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible for consideration for the post. If appointed, modification of the job plan will be by mutual agreement with the Trust.

The post will appeal to appropriately trained clinicians, who are looking to join a forward thinking, friendly and welcoming department with a reputation for teaching and professional development. The post would suit a doctor with a minimum of two years anaesthetic experience and preferably the Primary FRCA examination or equivalent who wishes to develop further supervised experience in Obstetric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
