About the role
A substantive post in Histopathology has become available at King's College Hospital. The current team comprises 24 consultants, 19 based at Denmark Hill and 5 based at the Princess Royal University Hospital. This position is based at the Denmark Hill Hospital site in Camberwell, a vibrant area of South London, serving a diverse local population, and beyond. The area benefits from excellent local schools (including state and independent options) and has quick and convenient access to Central London via Denmark Hill and Loughborough junction stations. The nearest tube station is located in Brixton, a short bus ride away.
The Histopathology department at Denmark Hill undertakes histopathology (including frozen sections), diagnostic cytopathology (excluding cervical cytology) and autopsy pathology. We are looking to recruit a substantive consultant. This is a replacement post, timetabled for 8 PA per week, however there is scope to expand this to a full time (10 PA) role should the candidate prefer this. The post will require the post holder to play an active role in the general running of the department, with specialist interests in Gastrointestinal pathology, Cytopathology and Uropathology. If desired, autopsy work can be arranged by mutual consent with the Clinical Leads and local Coroner. The successful candidate will join an impressive team dedicated to providing a first-class patient-centred service. Potential applicants will be welcome to visit the department and discuss this post. You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.
