About the role
The Health Board wishes to appoint an additional Consultant Physician / Geriatrician to join the existing Care of the Elderly team in the West division of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), North West Wales. This post is based in the district general hospital, Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, and we would consider part-time working for the correct candidate. The successful candidate will have a sub-specialty interest and we are open to considering a range of sub-specialty areas for the right candidate. This reflects our ambitions to develop a dedicated frailty unit within the acute hospital, alongside expanding community-based initiatives aimed at reducing avoidable hospital admissions. In view of the continued expansion of the North Wales Medical School, opportunities to undertake teaching and educational supervision commitments could be considered.
The successful applicant will be expected to: Develop and support a recognised sub-specialty interest, such as acute frailty, community geriatrics or orthogeriatrics. Provide supervision, teaching and support to junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals. Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, including students from Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea Universities. Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, appraisal, revalidation and continuing professional development activities. Contribute to service development and transformation projects across acute and community geriatric services. Participate in research, education and innovation opportunities where appropriate
