About the role
The States of Guernsey are looking for a Consultant Cellular Pathologist to join the team within Pathology Services.This is a new post which has been created due to increase in the histopathology workloads and cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings workloads. The suitable candidate will have a special interest in two or three disciplines. Based on the cancer workloads candidates with special interest in urology and skin pathology or GIT and breast pathology are encouraged to apply. However, any other combination of different specialties is also welcome. The successful candidate will work alongside the current Pathologist who reports in a general capacity. There is sufficient cancer and benign workloads in whichever disciplines the candidate has special interest for a full-time post.

A generous training budget is available to support any candidate who needs to acquire more experience in general pathology and for any Associate Specialist to upgrade to a Consultant. The successful candidate will be professionally responsible to the Medical Director and will report to the Clinical Head of Pathology Services to provide an effective and efficient cellular pathology service to the Medical Specialists, GP's and Dentists authorised by Health and Social Care to use the Pathology Services at the Hospital. Candidates for the post must hold full and specialist registration with a licence to practice with the GMC. Those trained in the UK should hold a CCT or be within 6 months of award of CCT by the date of interview. Non-UK applicants will be required to demonstrate equivalent training.
