About the role
UHD requires a Geriatric Medicine Speciality Doctor to fulfil the roles within our Older People's Services and Acute Care directorate. The post holder will be predominantly ward based and gain a wide range of experience and undertake on call working 8 PA's a week.
The role will be required to work with other grades of staff, and help out with ward rounds, admitting patients and clinics.

Working alongside our existing specialty doctors and trainee Geriatric registrars to provide care to inpatients including new admissions Supervision and support of junior medical colleagues, Physicians Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners/Advanced Clinical Practitioners Maintaining continued professional development Attending ward multidisciplinary meetings Attending and contributing to educational sessions and Clinical Governance meetings Partaking in departmental Quality Improvement work Teaching Medical and Physician's Associates students Participating in the hospital appraisal process as part of on-going professional development Potential weekend working within the ortho-geriatric service

Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions. As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality care across seven days, this post may involve participation in an out-of-hours rota, including evenings, weekends, and/or bank holidays, in accordance with service needs. Any work undertaken outside standard hours/PA's will attract remuneration in line with the respective NHS Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions of Service.
