Essential

Minimum of 3 years broad anaesthetic experience and a postgraduate qualification acceptable to the RCoA.
Experience in managing a wide range of anaesthetic and critical illness scenarios including responding appropriately to deteriorating patients in the emergency department, hospital wards and perioperative areas  Advanced Life Support certification
Demonstrate Possession of a basic medical qualification acceptable to the GMC for registration.  Completion of at least one year in an internship post.  Provision of evidence of having worked for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years in anaesthesia outside the European Union, including the most recent 12 months.  Provision of evidence of good standing from the applicant’s local medical regulatory council.
Demonstrate knowledge of English by obtaining an overall score of 7.5, with minimum scores of 7.0 in speaking, listening, reading and writing. In the ‘Academic’ test of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).  Eligibility for PLAB exemption.  Provision of two structured, supportive references from supervising consultants, both of whom must have worked with the applicant within the last five years.  Provision of evidence of a postgraduate qualification acceptable to the RCoA
Appropriate knowledge and practical skills to recognise and manage high risk patients presenting for anaesthesia.  Ability to manage critically ill patients
Coherent, diplomatic, confident, decisive.  Demonstrable presentation skills in educational and scientific settings.
Enthusiasm and commitment to the specialty.  Ability to work in harmony with medical, nursing and allied health professionals.  Flexibility, punctuality and reliability.  Ability to cope with stressful situations
