Consultant in Infection

This is a post for a consultant in Infection (microbiology or microbiology and infectious diseases). The post will be based at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) working within Severn Infection Sciences (SIS). There would also be an expectation that the successful candidate would provide clinical services at Weston General Hospital (WGH), as clinical microbiology services there are delivered through NBT. The successful applicant would join a team of established consultants in infection and is funded to deliver 6 PAs.Out-of-hours the post holder would be expected to provide clinical support for both NBT and WGH, through participation in an on-call rota. Of note, NBT and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) have recently formed a Hospital Group, and are pursuing a process of a formal merger. Within a merged organisation, single managed services would be developed, with the view that clinical microbiology services across all sites would be delivered by a unified department. This would mean that increased cross site working (across all sites served by the merged organisation) will be required, and there would be an expectation for the postholder to participate fully in this.
