About the role
We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and high-calibre Locum Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join one of the largest and busiest EDs in the UK. The ED provides care to a diverse and high-acuity patient population and operates as part of a major tertiary centre, including Major Trauma Centre responsibilities. Effective management of clinical risk, patient flow and operational pressure is a key priority, and the post holder will play a central role in providing visible senior clinical leadership on the shop floor, supporting safe, timely and high-quality patient care. The successful applicant will work as part of a well-established and supportive team, contributing to Consultant delivered care, supervision of trainees and advanced practitioners, and the ongoing development of Emergency Medicine services. The department is supported by a broad multidisciplinary workforce and comprises resuscitation facilities, rapid assessment and triage areas, majors and minors areas, and is preparing for the introduction of a new UTC, incorporating ambulatory care, minor illness and injury pathways, and GP service. This post is offered as a fixed term Locum appointment for an initial period of 12 months, on 10PA job plan, with weekend working commitment of 1:4. We welcome applicants from candidates with a special interest in Paediatrics. Applicants must hold full GMC registration, be on the GMC Specialist Register for Emergency Medicine or within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview.
