The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Dronfield Medical Practice is a forward thinking and well-respected teaching and training practice serving a population of 10300 patients in North East Derbyshire. We are located in purpose built premises close to Sheffield, Chesterfield, the M1 and the Peak District. We use EMIS clinical software and are part of the Dronfield and Chesterfield Primary Care Group. We are committed to providing an open, friendly, and supportive environment where all staff are comfortable sharing ideas and are provided with the resources they need to enjoy working and succeeding. The practice has the benefit of a full complement of staff including 3 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, HCAs, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, SPLWs and First Contact Physios. The clinical team is well supported by a friendly and engaged administrative/reception team, experienced practice management and opportunities offered by our proactive and innovative PCN. We place great importance on having good team morale; we ensure that workload is sustainable and fair. We have daily clinical debriefs and collaborative work planning, and a weekly clinical meeting. GPs wishing to get a feel for the practice are encouraged to arrange a visit to the practice. Person specification

Essential

Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Experience of working in a primary care environment
Experience of providing home visits
General understanding of the primary care contract
Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice
An appreciation of the NHS landscape and relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and the commissioners
Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
Good MS Office and clinical system IT knowledge
Understanding of the spectrum of clinical governance processes
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including recording of accurate clinical notes
Knowledge of health promotion strategies
Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GP colleagues
Experience of triage and the ability to effectively assess and diagnose
Ability to listen whilst being honest and caring and be both sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations
Understanding of the local pathology tests processes and the ability to processing the results with advising patients accordingly
Ability to assess and manage acute deteriorations /exacerbations of long-term conditions
Understanding of safeguarding adults and children
Experience of medicines management
Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
Understanding and knowledge of QOF and enhanced service
Qualified GP
MRCGP
Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
Full GMC registration
Appropriate defence indemnity
