About the role

Applicants are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+) in Ophthalmology at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust. We are looking for a dynamic doctor for a post within a well-established Ophthalmology service, the initial term will be 12 months renewable thereafter. This post offers significant clinical and surgical exposure within the Ophthalmology service across subspecialities. Research and Audit is actively encouraged and supported in the department with ample opportunities. We reserve the right to close a vacancy before the closing date if we receive a high volume of applications or if there has been a change in organisational priorities.

To actively provide and support the first class Ophthalmology services for the Trust working in collaboration with clinical colleagues in all disciplines to provide an integrated service for patients.

Responsibilities include specialty, emergency sessions and theatres as directed on the timetable.

Ward duties may include attending ward rounds and examination of pre and postoperative patients. Further ward duties may be required as necessary, when any of the SHO's are on leave to provide continuity of care. Most patients are assessed in preoperative assessment clinics prior to admission.

Teaching is an integral part of the unit, with juniors doctors, medical students, orthoptic and optometry students rotating through the department. The candidate will be expected to participate in seminars and lectures for medical students, junior doctors and other professional or lay groups with health interests.
