About the role
The Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology provides specialist cardiac care to infants, children, and young people at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales. Appointed at ST4-8 equivalent level, the post holder functions as the Paediatric Cardiology Registrar within a consultant-led multidisciplinary team. The role involves day-to-day management of inpatient cardiology services, including ward rounds, assessment of acute referrals, and provision of cardiology advice to general paediatrics, PICU, NICU, surgical teams, and the Emergency Department. Participation in paediatric resuscitation and emergency care is integral. The Fellow contributes to outpatient clinics, nurse-led postoperative and rapid-access clinics, and Joint Cardiac Clinics. The post includes supervised experience in cardiac investigations such as echocardiography, ECG interpretation, Holter monitoring, exercise testing, and coordination of cardiac CT and MRI. Participation in the paediatric cardiology on-call rota, teaching, audit, quality improvement, research, and clinical governance activities is expected. All duties are undertaken in line with Health Board policies and Good Medical Practice, with appropriate supervision.
