About the role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Paediatrician with an epilepsy interest and a passion for epilepsy care to join our team of eleven consultant paediatricians. The post holder will provide local epilepsy service for Barnsley and will also take part in hot week service. We have a proactive and modern service with close liaison between the Hospital and Community Departments. There have close working links with our tertiary centre at Sheffield Childrens Hospital and are closely supported by them to manage complex epilepsy patients. The post-holder will play an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, contributing to high-quality training for the next generation of clinicians. There are also opportunities to engage in research. We are looking for a motivated, forward-thinking Consultant who is eager to: Lead and innovate within our epilepsy services. Contribute to service development and re-evaluation as well as National Audits and research Work collaboratively within a supportive, highly skilled multidisciplinary team (providing support and advice to specialist nurses, resident doctors with regards to epilepsy) and regional network for Epilepsy. Actively contributes to the paediatric hot week rota, providing senior clinical leadership, and ensuring high-quality patient care during periods of increased service demand. The post holder will maintain the highest clinical standards in epilepsy, general paediatric and neonatology by ensuring responsibility for their own continuing medical education and professional development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with consultant colleagues in the day-to-day management of the Paediatric Department, actively contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement and audit programmes. The duties of the post will be reviewed through an annual job planning process undertaken jointly by the Consultant, Clinical Lead and Service Manager, ensuring that responsibilities remain aligned with service needs and professional development objectives.
