Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3) with an Interest In Echocardiography, Research Or Sustainability in Adult Critical Care at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board based at the University Hospital of Wales.
The post will be available from February 2026.
Echocardiography The successful candidate would get protected time (average 1 day per week) over the course of the year in order to achieve the British Society of Echocardiography level 1 accreditation and to become independent in performing transthoracic echocardiography studies on critical care patients. They would have regular 1 to 1 echo lists with an BSE accredited intensivist as well as input into echo governance meetings. There is also the opportunity to develop the critical care echo service and quality improvement projects related to the service. Research The successful applicant would work as part of our research team (1-2 days per week) As well as helping with clinical duties as part of the trial team (such as muscle ultrasound and bronchoscopy) they would also contribute to day to day conduct of trials, coordinate requirements for future trials and take part in safety and outcome reporting. They would be encouraged to attend funded research courses, national and international meetings and help with research education. Within in their year the appointee may be able to act as part of the local trial management group (co-Principal Investigator) They would have time to plan, set up and possibly run their own research (with support from the team) and publish their results.
