About the role
A full ophthalmology service is provided at the Central Middlesex Hospital alongside a Community diagnostic centre (Willesden Eyecare Centre). Out-Patients Most clinics take place on the first floor outpatient area, with the macula service and intravitreal injection suite situated on the ground floor. YAG and Argon lasers, digital fundus fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography photography, optical coherence tomography (2 x Spectralis OCT), corneal topography, colour digital photography, anterior segment photography, IOL Master and A scan biometry, B scan ocular ultrasonography, nasal endoscopy and EMG for botulinum toxin administration are available within the clinic areas. There are clinics covering all the sub-specialist areas of ophthalmology as well as general clinics for rapid access to the hospital eye service. Eye Surgery Cataract, glaucoma, retinal, strabismus, corneal, oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery takes place in theatres in ACAD. Minor lid procedures are carried out in the minor procedures theatre in the clinic and intravitreal injections take place in the macular service on the ground floor. Some operating lists are covered by consultant anaesthetists who provide local or general anaesthesia as required. There is a step-down facility In ACAD. Out of hours cover is provided by the 24 hour casualty at the Western Eye which takes emergencies from all over London.
