General/ Benign Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery Consultant

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to invite applications for a substantive General Surgery Surgeon with a sub-specialty interest in Benign Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery based in the Department of General Surgery. This is a permanent, full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a progressive, collaborative and forward-thinking General Surgery department. The post has been developed to support service expansion and to ensure continuity in the delivery of high-quality elective care. We are seeking to appoint a consultant with prior Upper GI/Hepatobiliary training and anticipate that the successful appointees will be able to undertake a broad range of elective and emergency procedures from an early stage in their appointment. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to the Emergency General Surgery (EGS) service as required to support the effective running of the department. They will undertake routine cholecystectomy and, where clinically appropriate, contribute to the delivery of 'hot cholecystectomy' as part of the department's acute biliary service. In addition, the postholder will be expected to undertake a broad range of general surgical procedures in line with their experience and the needs of the service, including hernia surgery and the management of benign lumps and bumps.
