About the role
We're seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician to become part of our established stroke department at North Bristol NHS Trust to contribute to the growth and strategic development of our services. Our focus is on driving improvement within acute stroke services for Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), alongside extending support to the wider Severn Region and beyond, encompassing advanced procedures like Mechanical Thrombectomy (which is performed 24/7). Since May 2023, our Comprehensive Stroke Centre, based at the Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital is at the centre of stroke care in the region with expansion of our hyperacute stroke unit (HASU) and acute stroke unit (ASU). We deliver the highest number of thrombectomies in the UK. The successful candidate will have responsibilities that include supporting the delivery of acute services, involvement in Mon-Fri transient ischaemic attack (TIA) clinics, and handling ward referrals at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Additionally, participation in bi-weekly ward consultant rounds at the Stroke Sub Acute Rehab Unit (SSARU) located at Weston General Hospital will be expected. This position offers an opportunity to be part of an evolving landscape in stroke care, contributing to its growth and optimisation. Join us as we build on our high quality care, working as a team to enhance stroke services and making a meaningful impact in healthcare.
