About the role

Locum Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery Specialising in Trauma with paediatric trauma, adolescent and adult soft tissue knee reconstruction. Applications are invited for a Full Time Locum Consultant in Orthopaedics, for Trauma with paediatric trauma, adolescent and adult soft tissue knee reconstruction, based at Northwick Park Hospital and would be required to work across the Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals We are looking for individuals that share our passion for excellence and want to join our team. It is essential that the successful applicant has experience in paediatric trauma, adolescent and adult soft tissue knee reconstruction. The role will include elective and trauma operating, fracture clinics and elective clinics. It is hoped that the applicant can be appointed as soon as is practicable. The Consultants are supported by Registrars, Trust Grade doctors, and junior doctors at FY1/FY2/CT1 level. It is essential that the applicant has passed the FRCS in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent.

There will be balanced activities between trauma and elective commitments based on service demands, to be further reviews prior to start date. The activities would include Operation lists, both Elective and Trauma, Regular ward round, Outpatient clinics, both Elective and Trauma. Presenting monthly mortality & morbidity statistics and participating in departmental teaching meetings. Supervision and training middle grade. Be prepared to participate in management duties within the department and the Trust. This is an exciting role where the post holder will help in developing a peadiatric trauma service at Northwick Park Hospital and will work with local colleagues to collaborate on elective paediatric services in the region.

Person specification

Essential

FRCS or appropriate higher orthopaedic surgical qualification
GMC Register with a licence to practice
Understanding of clinical governance principles and their implications
Experience and surgical expertise in Orthopaedic surgery

Desirable

NHS experience within the last 3 years
GMC Trauma & Orthopaedic Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT/CESR
Leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop the multidisciplinary team
