About the role
This is a new Locum post and has been arisen due to a continual demand for Trauma services at North Middlesex University Hospital. It is also designed to help the expanding trauma in general. The successful candidate will join a team of 9 other Consultants to provide their services for the Trust, and to ensure that the Junior Doctors are continually supported at the required level, and that their training needs are met.
An indicative job plan/timetable for this post with indicative Programmed Activities (PAs) is provided below, but this will normally be re-assessed after 3 months of appointment to ensure it meets the needs of the service. The department has moved to 'trauma week' on-calls as recommended by the British Orthopaedic Association. This means that the 'on-call week' starts on a Monday afternoon with a handover meeting from the previous week's consultant. The consultant works alongside a middle grade and junior doctor who are also on the on-call rota. Every morning will start with a trauma meeting, followed by a 'grand ward round' including post-take patients. The PM Trauma session continues until 18:00 hrs. There is a different Consultant 'on-call' after 18:00 hrs until the next day 08:00 hrs. The Consultant weekend on-call start from 08:00 on Friday until 13:00 hrs on the following Monday.
