About the role

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month fixed term post designed to support both the Obstetric and Gynaecology services provided by the department. The successful candidate will join a team of 14 Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologists based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe. Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a License to Practice.

The successful candidate will be based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, within the Women's and Children's Division. The role may involve working at other Trust sites such as the Victoria Infirmary in Northwich where some Gynaecology outpatient clinics are delivered.

The on-call commitment to the non-resident consultant on-call rota is 1:12. The post will also involve Consultant of the Week responsibility on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on a 1:12 basis.

Person specification

Essential

A wide general obstetrics and gynaecology training
Good experience at running labour ward and Emergency Gynaecology at a senior level
Possesses training and education skills to teach junior, medical, nursing and midwifery students and staff
Demonstrates Leadership qualities
Provides learning opportunities within the clinical environment to teach junior
Full GMC registration with licence to practice
MRCOG or equivalent
Two appropriate ATSMs, SITMs or Sub speciality training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and staff
Able to communicate well with patients
Willingness to seek timely assistance from colleagues and discuss clinical issues when appropriate
Acts with integrity
Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC
Good organisational skills and time management.
Prepared to challenge/correct poor performance.
Takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's Values and Behaviours

Desirable

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR or European Community Rights
