About the role
Job Overview We are excited to advertise two new posts within the respiratory medicine Department at Ipswich hospital. These are enabling us to increase our inpatient bed base and offer seven day working. These will be predominantly based in general respiratory medicine with some on-call cover of General Internal medicine. Consultants would be encouraged and supported to develop a sub speciality interest. Applicants with interests in airways disease and education would be very welcome but we would look to accommodate any sub speciality as the rest of a job plan allows. Applicants will have completed CCT or equivalent (Portfolio Pathway) and must be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of completion.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will join a rota looking after the 2 respiratory wards, the high dependency unit and referrals. Each consultant currently only looks after half the inpatients on a ward at any time. The expectation would be the successful candidates would cover inpatients 28 weeks per year and referrals/the high dependency unit 7 times per year. The post will include a respiratory hot clinic and pleural or bronchoscopy intervention sessions. The successful candidate will join the respiratory rota providing 7 day cover to our high dependency unit. Alongside this the post includes a slot on the general medicine on call rota (will be 1:17). This is a full time post however candidates wishing to work part time will be considered and the responsibilities and timetable adjusted accordingly.
