General Practitioner with Extended Role (GPwER) Epilepsy

To provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care services alongside delivering enhanced clinical expertise in a defined specialist area. The post-holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective, and evidence-based care, while supporting service development, education, and leadership within their extended role.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Practice & Extended Role Delivery Deliver specialist clinical services within the GPwERs defined extended role (e.g. Dermatology, MSK, Neurology, Headache, Minor Surgery, Epilepsy, etc.). Manage acute, chronic, and complex conditions, including those requiring enhanced expertise. Undertake specialist clinics, procedures, or assessments relevant to the extended role. Ensure appropriate investigations, referrals, and follow-up, including triaging referrals within the specialist area. Prescribe in accordance with local and national guidelines, ensuring safe medicines optimisation. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records.
