About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Radiologist to join our friendly and dynamic team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to further expand our clinical team

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC with FRCR (or equivalent) and either be eligible for inclusion on the GMC’s Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the date of interview.

The general radiology commitment will include plain film reporting, ultrasound, MRI and CT work, which will be timetabled. Subspecialty interests will be accommodated within the job plan. A full-time contract will include 1.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) for Supporting Professional Activities (with the potential for additional SPA based on need and justification) and 1 PA for 7-day working (currently 1 in 16 on-call rota).

Upon taking up the post, the successful candidate will agree a job plan and work programme; the actual timetable is open to negotiation and will be decided by mutual consent although it will have to dovetail with the other consultants' commitments. The radiologists' rota currently works on a two-weekly cycle. A commitment to working flexibly within the 7-day service will be expected.

Essential

Basic Medical Qualification · MBChB/MBBS · or equivalent.
FRCR or equivalent
Certificate of Specialist Training in Radiology (or be held within 6 months of its award at time of Advisory Appointment Committee)
Evidence of completion of a recognised training programme offering wide radiological experience.
To be on the GMC Specialist Register as a Radiologist or to be eligible for GMC Specialist registration within 6 months at the time of the Advisory Appointment Committee.
Domicile: To be within a 30-minute commutable distance of Royal Bolton Hospital for emergency response (willing to accept further).
Car Driver/Owner: Must hold a valid driving license and car.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Ability to contribute to the continuing development of the radiology service in line with new developments and changes in demand
Teaching junior medical and other staff.
Extensive experience in general radiology including plain film interpretation, ultrasound, CT and MRI.
On-call experience.
Interest in teaching medical undergraduates, radiology and non-radiology junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals
Ability to work within the relevant clinical and managerial structure, contributing to the continued development of the radiology service.
Ability to be a leader. Able to manage and motivate staff.
Ability to be an effective member of a team.
Ability to work collaboratively with and relate to all other healthcare staff
Possession of appropriate clinical and communication skills.
Ability to manage change and to stimulate development.
