About the role

We are seeking a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, Acute medicine or General practice to join our Virtual Ward/ Hospital at Home and provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team caring for patients in a virtual ward setting. This is a fixed term post for 12 months at 4 sessions per week to work on Thursday & Friday. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the medical care of patients, supervising other medical staff, and ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered. We are open to applications from candidates at all stages in exploring this sub-specialtyincluding those for whom this would be a first post. We are looking for a collaborativecolleague with a strong grounding in core community medicine who is keen to develop aninterest in the virtual ward in a supportive environment. The post holder will work within the Adult Community Services Department at WhittingtonHealth. The primary duty of the post will be to provide senior clinical input to the Virtual Ward, Hospital at Home service. Essential

Full GMC Registration
MRCGP
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) or European Community Rights
A medical degree and postgraduate qualifications in medicine (MRCP or equivalent)
SCE in Geriatric Medicine
Comprehensive experience in managing patients with all aspects of geriatric and general medical problems
Experience in working in community medicine, general practice, virtual wards.
Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team
Experience in undergraduate and multidisciplinary teaching
Understanding of research methodology
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and relatives.
Ability to think and work flexibly.
Potential to develop management and leadership skills.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures
Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental objectives
Experience and evidence of completion of audit loop
Awareness of national policies and relevant quality initiatives.
IT skills and computer literacy.
