About the role

We are seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Neurology to join Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), a leading provider of specialist paediatric services in the East Midlands. The post holder will be based at the Nottingham Children's Hospital, contributing to a dynamic and multidisciplinary team delivering high quality care to children with neurological conditions. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care, participate in service development, and engage in education and research activities. You will work closely with paediatricians, allied health professionals, and nursing teams to deliver evidence based neurological care and improve outcomes for children and families.

Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of children with neurological disorders across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.

Participate in the on call rota and provide timely advice and support to the wider paediatric team.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical pathways and service improvements.

Person specification

Essential

Full GMC Registration
Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register for Paediatric Neurology
Working towards achieving CCT at the time of the interview
MRCPCH or equivalent
Has completed training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology as specified by the RCPCH Neurology CSAC, or training assessed to be equivalent by the GMC.
Experience and specialist training in either epilepsy or Neuromuscular disease
Experience and training in management of children with acute neurological disorders
Awareness and experience of child protection processes
Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals
Able to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery
Able to delegate appropriately
Able to work within a team
Able to work flexibly in a changing health service
Able to work within multidisciplinary teams
Able to take overall responsibility for patients
Commitment to continuing professional development
Computing and IT skills commensurate with a senior clinician role
Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit
Ability to interpret and apply research findings
Able to teach and support junior staff effectively
Meet all essential criteria as per Job Spec

Desirable

Higher Degree- PhD, MD or equivalent
Paediatric Neurology Fellowship
Neurodisability Experience
Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
Experience as a coinvestigator or Principal Investigator
Original research publications
Higher teaching degree or qualification or training
