About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant psychiatrist with our H&F Crisis Assessment and Home Treatment Team (H&F CAHTT). The role would be to provide 10 PA of senior medical input into a busy and diverse Crisis Service that covers the whole London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The role will be supported by 2 less than full time consultant (total of 10PA) and help lead a full MDT. The role will also provide clinical input into the Health Based Place of Safety (HBPoS) which has two assessment rooms and should be operational within the next two months. This role does include formal supervision of trainees. Clinical supervision and support would be routine. Please note the Job description is undergoing college approval processes and may subject to minor changes following the review.
You will be a key role in the support and guidance into a fast paced service that helps to manage around 160-200 new referrals each month. This role will be critical to providing diagnostic formulation, medical care planning and liaison between services to ensure effective crisis intervention and appropriate follow up within secondary and primary mental health services. There are regular clinical appointments scheduled, however as per the crisis nature of the work, the ability to prioritise sensibly to evolving situations is a key skill. The role offers the opportunity to input into gatekeeping strategies and working within the Health Based Place of Safety (HBPoS). There will be an expectation to chair the team CIG, to contribute to the team senior management strategy and provide some clinical oversight for both MDT and medical team members. The post-holder will contribute to service development in the team, e.g. supporting the team to achieve Royal College accreditation, and will contribute to clinical leadership on specific pathways and developments. There will be opportunities for the post holder to achieve and maintain relevant competencies to develop as clinicians and leaders. The post holder will be encouraged to get involved in management structures within the directorate and attend senior management meetings where possible. The post holder will be involved in recruitment processes for other staff especially other Speciality and Specialist doctors.
