We are a dispensing practice, use Systmone and achieve high QOF scores. Barnard Castle lies in the rural beauty of Teesdale, being 1 hour drive to the Lake District and 30 minutes from Darlington, with rail connections to London or Edinburgh in around 2 hours.
We are the largest practice in our innovative and effective Primary Care Network and are part of Durham Dales Health Federation.

In accordance with the Practice timetable, the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including both face to face and telephone consultations and home visits as well as dealing with administration work including prescriptions, results, letters and reports. Timetable includes outside appointments at local Community Hospital. We promote continuity of care with a usual GP system.

We are the sole practice in the pleasant market town of Barnard Castle with 6 Partners, 3 Salaried GP's, 3 ACP's, supported by an excellent practice nursing, administration and pharmacy team. We have a culture of openness and continuous learning and improvement. We are supportive of clinician's interests and the development of portfolio careers. We have weekly clinical meetings and clinicians meet daily at coffee time. 13 patients in a standard surgery with 15-minute appointments. Low number of house visits, which are supported by community paramedics. Integrated clinical pharmacists, active care coordinator and social prescribers and practice based mental health practitioners. Very well organised and efficient with a stable clinical and administration team. An administration sub-team scan and code incoming letters and arrange medication changes and follow up tests.
