About the role
West Midlands Ambulance Service Medical Emergency Response and Intervention Team (MERIT) is a consultant-led doctorparamedic service based in Sandwell. This NHS-commissioned service operates 24 hours a day, responding by road to emergencies across the West Midlands. The teams principal workload is major trauma, including hyper-acute transfer and retrieval, while also providing specialist support to selected medical emergencies. In addition, MERIT plays a key role in the Trusts planned response to major incidents. We are seeking to appoint experienced specialists in pre-hospital emergency medicine to our Consultant Bank. Successful candidates will deliver expert clinical care and provide leadership across the domains of quality improvement, education, patient safety, and clinical governance. Successful applicants will play a key role in developing the clinical service in keeping with our vision of delivering the highest levels of clinical care in prehospital emergency medicine to the people of the West Midlands. Applicants must hold: A primary medical qualification (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent) Full GMC registration with a licence to practise Fellowship in Immediate Medical Care (FIMC RCSEd) A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or equivalent, in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, or Intensive Care Medicine A substantive consultant appointment within their base specialty
