The London Major Trauma System went live in January 2011 following the formation of 4 Major Trauma Networks to serve London and the surrounding regions. As such St George’s was designated as the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) for the Southwest London and Surrey Major Trauma Network. St George’s MTC sees around 2500 trauma calls per annum of which around 1400 have an Injury Severity Score of over 9.
St George’s Major Trauma Service is led by Trauma and Orthopaedic, with specialist support from multiple surgical and other specialities on site. In addition, our patients benefit from a well-established and expert team of Major Trauma Nurse Practitioners who co-ordinate much of the care of major trauma patients. Likewise, older patients are assessed by dedicated geriatrician service to support Major Trauma.
Applications are from invited from clinical with an interest in Major Trauma from a range of relevant clinical background, from the ED, anaesthetics and critical care and surgical specialities. Successful candidates will be allocated an educational supervisor from a relevant speciality to support their training and career progression. In addition, time will be allocated in the rota for personal development time for trainees to pursue their own clinical interests and expertise.
