About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to train in adult congenital heart disease catheter intervention. The fellowship is for 12 months, extendable up to 24 months and will be based mainly at the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI). There may be access to some sessions in the paediatric cardiac catheterisation laboratory depending on the successful applicant's experience and training needs.
The adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) catheter interventional service has one of the highest case volumes in the UK and offers the whole range of procedures. The team have been at the forefront of innovation in congenital cardiac catheterisation as well as early adopters of new technology and procedures.
The ACHD interventional cardiology team consists of three interventional consultants, supported by two peri-procedural imaging consultants and a cath lab team of skilled nurses, physiologists and radiographers.
The ACHD team consists of 5 full-time ACHD Consultant Cardiologists, 4 congenital cardiac surgeons, 3 ACHD clinical fellows, 4 specialist ACHD nurses, an MDT co-ordinator and full admin support. The unit is closely linked with adult cardiac services and the Paediatric Cardiology Services at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
