About the role

Applications are invited for the post of Substantive Consultant in Histopathology. There are several posts available for the successful applicants, with potential job-sharing or less than full-time appointments. The successful applicant would join a team of 32 consultants. We work in an oligo-specialist setting - colleagues are encouraged to take part in 2-3 subspecialties, becoming part of the respective teams. In preparation for the approaching retirement of our perinatal Pathologist colleague, we especially welcome applicants with experience in paediatric/perinatal Pathology, or those willing to undertake speciality training provided in collaboration with training centres. Applications from colleagues with skin and GI specialisation are also welcomed, though other subspecialty interests can be accommodated. Person specification

Essential

Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration with a license to practice on Specialist registration or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
FRCPath or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and support staff
Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
Applicants who are Nationals from a European country or elsewhere further overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
Commitment to develop an appropriate special interest

Desirable

Paediatric/perinatal pathology qualification
Previous responsibility for service improvement.
