The post-holder will:

· Participate in the senior registrar on-call rota (third on-call for Obstetrics)

· Undertake outpatient clinics and theatre sessions in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

· Contribute to audit, quality improvement and research activity

· Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training

· Support service development within the department

· Senior registrar level (ST5–7) third on-call cover for Obstetrics and Gynaecology

· Supervised delivery of outpatient clinics and theatre lists

· Teaching and training of junior medical staff, midwives and medical students

Working with a named consultant lead to develop a specialist interest area, to be agreed on appointment (e.g. Gynaecological Oncology, Benign Gynaecology, Maternal–Fetal Medicine, Urogynaecology, Colposcopy, Medical Education, Global Health)

Person specification

Essential

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Has full GMC registration with a licence to practice
• Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
• MRCOG Part 1, 2 & 3 (UK) or equivalent
• NHS Registrar level experience
• Recent clinical experience at junior registrar level or above within Obstetrics and Gynaecology
• Shows an understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and corporate risk
Minimum 3 years’ experience at registrar level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Clinical competence appropriate for ST5–7 level
A knowledge of research and audit methods GCP certification (or willingness to obtain)
The candidate must be able to demonstrate: ▪ an understanding of the importance of the patient as the central the focus of care ▪ the ability to prioritize information appropriately ▪ an understanding of the importance of working effectively with others ▪ the ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and patients ▪ initiative and the ability to deal effectively with pressure/challenge ▪ an understanding of the principles of equality and diversity
