Limb Reconstruction & Trauma Locum Consultant

Locum Consultant in Limb Reconstruction and Trauma Surgery. Applications are invited for the above post across both the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Windmill Rd, Oxford & the Orthopaedic Trauma Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Headley Way, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DU. We are looking for a candidate with both Limb reconstruction and Orthopaedic Trauma with a proven track record of delivering limb reconstruction in both elective and trauma setting, and experience of delivery of orthopaedic trauma surgery in the major trauma centre setting at consultant level. The appointee will work as part of a dedicated orthopaedic trauma team in a Major Trauma Centre, serving a catchment population of 3 million with a substantial tertiary workload. This is integral to this appointment, and applicants will need to demonstrate fellowship level training in complex Limb Reconstruction and Orthopaedic trauma surgery. We are looking for an applicant who is a team player and has relevant experience. The appointee will be expected to participate in the on-call rota and may be required to work on any other site as required by the OUH Trust in the future.

The new appointee will form part of a team, managing patients with musculoskeletal trauma. The appointee will have individual consultant responsibilities, but these will be performed within a team environment, which provides excellent opportunities for further personal and professional development. The new post holder will be treated equitably in this regard with respect to his/her consultant colleagues. The post is suitable for a fully trained orthopaedic surgeon, with relevant experience from the UK or abroad, who wishes to practice their skills in the management of musculoskeletal trauma. We are looking for an applicant who is a team player and has relevant experience in both the management of limb reconstruction and complex trauma surgery. Teaching/Research Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital Trust, and the post-holder will be required to participate in teaching students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity. The post-holder's contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review. Both the Limb Reconstruction Unit and the Orthopaedic Trauma unit are some of the most active units for clinical trials worldwide. It is expected that the post-holder will contribute to this activity.
