About the role
Applications are invited for the post of Interventional Fellow in the Department of Cardiology at King's College Hospital. This post is designed for a Specialty Trainee in Cardiology (ideally ST6 or 7 level or equivalent) who intends to specialise in coronary intervention. The successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of coronary intervention in a high volume centre, and will gain experience with advanced imaging and adjunctive techniques. Applicants must therefore be fully competent in diagnostic coronary angiography and would ideally be some way in to their interventional training.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct studies in coronary intervention with allocated research time within the timetable. Full educational support will be given to present data at national/international meetings and prepare papers for peer-reviewed journals.
The successful applicant will be expected to work with the senior nursing staff and the database manager to co-ordinate research studies and data acquisition.
Departmental visits will be discouraged until after short-listing.
This post would be suitable for a trainee who has successfully completed at least two years of higher specialist training in Cardiology. Previous experience of invasive cardiology is essential - ie. independence as a solo operator in diagnostic cardiac catheterization. Some interventional experience would be advantageous but not essential. Trainees will have completed their MRCP and will have an up to date certification for Adult Life Support training.
