About the role
The Community Paediatrician plays a key role in delivering specialist medical care to children and young people with complex health, developmental, and safeguarding needs within community settings. You will provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management for children with neurodevelopmental conditions, disabilities, and social vulnerability, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role includes responsibility for statutory and safeguarding duties, including child protection medical assessments, looked after children health assessments, and contribution to multi-agency planning. The Community Paediatrician will support delivery of neurodevelopmental pathways (e.g. ASD/ADHD), contribute to reducing waiting times, and ensure high-quality, patient-centred care. In addition to clinical work, the post holder will provide leadership within the service, supporting service development, quality improvement, and workforce supervision. They will work collaboratively with health, education, and social care partners to ensure integrated care and improved outcomes for children and families. The role is essential to maintaining safe service provision, meeting statutory requirements, and delivering local and national priorities for children's services.
