About the role
This is an exciting post for 12 months aimed at a senior Gastroenterology trainee or accredited specialist wishing to garner further specialist experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) delivery in a large teaching hospital Gastrointestinal unit. A core component of this post is the delivery of lower GI endoscopy (diagnostic colonoscopy), with a particular focus on IBD assessment and surveillance. The post also comes with the opportunity to participate in clinical research and clinical trials, with time set aside within the job plan to enable this to occur
The IBD Team has strong links to the Royal Colorectal Team, as well as the Alder Hey Children's Hospital Paediatric Gastroenterology Team and Liverpool Women's Hospital Obstetric Team. There will be an opportunity to undertake clinic work in aspects of the service to meet the needs of the department and the learning needs of the successful applicant. There are a variety of different facets to the IBD service. General IBD clinics IBD MDT and radiology (APEX)/histology MDTs Similarly, Radiology (APEX) MDT Endoscopy Transition clinic Obstetric Clinic Clinical Governance, Directorate and Mortality and Morbidity Educational meetings Opportunities will be available to gain all relevant CPD points Research/Audit/Quality Improvement (QI) Patient initiatives Below is an example of a current time-table but this will be flexible and aimed to meet the fellows needs. AM (08.30-12.30) PM (12.30-16.30) Monday 8:30 -12:30 - IBD Flare clinic / Specialist monthly IBD clinic * 12.30-15.30 -APEX meeting followed M+M, Directorate and Clinical Governance meetings 15.30-16.30 - Histology MDT meeting/Research Tuesday 8:30 -12:30 - Admin time 12.30-13.00 -Journal club and LUNCH 13.00-17.00 -Main IBD clinic (RIBDFTF) Wednesday 8:30 -12:30 - Colonoscopy list 12.30-16.30 - Colonoscopy list Thursday 8:30 -12:30 - Research/QI time 12.30-16.30 - Research/QI time Friday 08.00-09.00 - IBD MDT 09.00-12.30 - Main IBD clinic (RIBDFTF) 12.30-16.30 - Admin time
