About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a specialist interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty (Including Primary and Revision Surgery). This post will support the delivery of high-quality elective and trauma care within our busy Orthopaedic department, contributing to both inpatient and outpatient services. The successful candidate will join a supportive and forward-thinking team of consultants. This role is essential in maintaining clinical continuity in Lower Limb services, and offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to service development and multidisciplinary care. This locum post is available for an initial fixed-term period, with the possibility of extension depending on service needs. The postholder will be expected to participate in the trauma on-call rota and provide supervision to junior medical staff.

The postholder will be responsible for delivering high-quality care in trauma and orthopaedics, with a specialist focus on Lower Limb Surgery. Duties will include elective and trauma operating, outpatient clinics, and participation in the on-call rota. The post also includes supervision of junior medical staff and involvement in clinical governance activities.

MRCS
FRCS (T&O) or equivalent qualification
Entry on specialist register or within 6 months of starting post.
ATLS
Fellowship (lower limb)
Commitment to education and training
Experience of working in MDT framework
Primary Hip and Knee Replacements
revision knee replacements and periprosthetic fracture management
Leadership skills
Organisational and management skills

Interest in clinical audit
Evidence of previous audits in chosen subspecialities
Have published original work in peer review journals
