About the role
Main Duties of The Consultant Post
We are committed to ensuring all our Consultant Psychiatrists are effective and compassionate clinical leaders. Clinical leadership, innovation and service performance are key components to all our consultant positions. We will provide the necessary training and development opportunities for all Consultants joining the Trust to ensure they are able to deliver these components of their role.

o Specialist consultation, assessment, formulation, and intervention for young people with complex needs and high risk forensic behaviours across community, residential, custodial, and secure settings.o Consistent, flexible provision across the region, regardless of a young person's placement or location.o Joint working with CAMHS, learning disability and autism services, and other children's services to support the management of complex, high risk cases.o Delivery of evidence based assessment and intervention throughout the care pathway, including support with transitions into and out of secure services.o Clear, needs led recommendations on placement, ensuring secure inpatient admission only when clinically indicated.o Embedding safeguarding principles and promoting developmental, relational, and family inclusive approaches.o Supporting CETRs and aligning with Transforming Care for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.o Enhancing local provision through specialist formulation, risk assessment expertise, and strategic advice. o Identifying gaps in provision and contributing to service development and system improvement.o Providing multi agency training on working with high risk young people, risk assessment and management, and the interface between key legislative frameworks (e.g., Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Children Act, Education Act, SEND reforms, Youth Justice)
