About the role

The Acute Medicine Department at UHD are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding and dynamic Acute Medicine team. These are middle grade level posts offered as specialty doctor contracts (10 PAs).

We have a strong education and training ethos with a wealth of experience amongst our Consultant team in Senior Educator roles, locally, regionally and nationally and are committed to providing an enjoyable and supportive training environment. Successful candidates will be fully supported to gain the experience and competencies needed to progress through a Portfolio Pathway (CESR) application, which would allow them to become a future Consultant in Acute Medicine.

UHD has Acute Medical Units (AMU) on both the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) site and the Poole Hospital site and medical takes will continue each site over the next year. The Acute Medicine Department at UHD have seen rapid change and improvement in their SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) models over the last year and now with new investment are looking to build on this and progress our transformation journey towards the Major Emergency Site model that was agreed in the Dorset Clinical Services review. With additional recruitment of more senior Doctors to the existing team of Consultants, we are looking to progress our development towards 12 hours a day, 7 days a week SDEC provision.

Person specification

Essential

o Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
o Ability to prioritise workload & use initiative
o Ability to know own limitations & when to seek advice
o Meet the requirements of the GMC's Good Medical Practice.
Can demonstrate successful completion of foundation competencies
o Completed training to IMT2 or above
o Minimum 12 months NHS experience
o Approachable manner
o Flexible attitude
o Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team
o Eligibility or valid/relevant GMC Registration
o Basic Medical Qualification
o Completion of foundation training
o Completion of IMT2 training or above
o passed MRCP parts 1 and 2.

Desirable

o Computer/IT Research skills
o Rota coordination
o Evidence of experience of working in same day emergency care
o Evidence of experience in working in acute medicine
o Evidence of team leadership
o Indication of career path within Acute medicine
o Passed full MRCP
